Tori S. preggers

So no one could be more excited than me about Tori Spelling's announcement of her third pregnancy! I followed her first two pregnancies and now I have a third opportunity to make fun of follow her incessant whingeing insightful thoughts about weight loss and dieting. She debuted her new bump on EXTRA this week after announcing her little bun in the oven on Twitter. According to the Chicago Tribune, Tori surprised her husband Dean with the news: “I wrapped up the pregnancy test in a box and bow and gave it to Dean as his Valentine’s Day gift,” she tells People. “He was beyond surprised.”

TOTALLY TORI FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS!

Totally Tori: dieting sucks (duh!)

Tori, seriously. You are taking over my life!

In one of her typical moments of profundity, Tori had an epiphany at the offices of Us Magazine, realising like every other woman in the developed world that 'It sucks to diet and exercise'.

My god. And she's also a raging hypocrite: "I read all the magazines -- I know how all the actresses look great weeks after having a baby, and that doesn't happen [to me].

Um, Tor? Did you forget that you lost 22lbs (10kg) 4 months after your first birth and then lost all of the baby weight by 7 months (40lbs)?

So you say there was less pressure with your second baby? "The pressure came off. The weight came off a lot quicker when I wasn't like, 'Oh, I have to follow this diet regime!' It was just easier doing it the natural way," continued Spelling.

Um, Tor? Did you forget that you stopped breastfeeding Stella 3.5 months after she was born so you could start to diet? Since when is denying your baby the boob so you can lose weight 'natural'?

For shame.

Tori, you should be ashamed of yourself.

I thought my worst nightmare was the Peekaru. I think I'll take that back and instead say that the thought of Tori Spelling as a 'bestselling author' is far more frightening. Nevertheless, NoTORIous Spelling's new book is called Mommywood and I've just read an excerpt and it ain't pretty. In what I think is supposed to be cute, funny sTORItelling about the trials and tribulations of being a celeb mum, is actually a self-indulgent, slightly appalling rant about having an ultrasound and thinking her baby's nose was too big in the 3D images:

"Inside my head I was screaming, Oh my God, does he have a huge nose? Just tell me! but I was having trouble asking it directly. I knew it was wrong to care, but I did. So I tried to put it as delicately as I could: “Does his nose look . . . normal?” The doctor nodded. “Of course, of course,” he muttered. Hmm. That still wasn’t really satisfying".

Thankfully, Tori's other half Dean called her on being shallow but Tori puts it down to having to live with unrealistic expectations as a Hollywood mum:

"Hollywood is a glittering, glamorous, superficial land of dreamers, wannabes, and stars. Mommywood takes place on the same set—the palm trees and eternal sunshine of Los Angeles."

Um no, Tor. You actually are just shallow and you are dumb enough to confirm it by putting it in print.

I love one readers review of the book on Amazon:

"What a rip-off. I wanted to know about kids, and all I learned about is that she loves to be photographed, have her kids photographed, sell images of her kids, be self-important, insult people and be in never-never land. The stuff about her mother is such old news. Pick up the phone, Tori. Call her. She shouldn't have to call your nanny. So much ego, so little substance. She said she wanted a "normal" family, and then parades her kids before the paparazzi to get attention for her tv show. Enough."

There you have it.

NoTORIous Spelling looking a little lean

Totally Tori is back in the news again, apparently slamming anorexia allegations given her increasingly shrinking body. Only 9 months since giving birth to her second child, Tori is beating back rumours from Star magazine that claim she is only 98 pounds. Her rep says she is definitely not that thin.

Totally Tori looks hot part 2

Tori Spelling is back in the news for finally kicking the 50lbs she gained in her second pregnancy. If you remember, she dropped the weight from her first pregnancy with Nutri-System in like 3 minutes flat:

Now, since Tori is like thisclose to signing on to a reprise her role on 90210, she is looking svelte once again. This time, however, her post-baby bounce back took 6 months. This time she was a bit more sensible and didn't try to lose the weight quickly and she didn't work out like a fanatic:

"Breakfast was yogurt, fruit and nuts. Lunch was homemade soup with a sweet potato or soy milk base. We'd snack on celery and peanut butter, and then I'd make lean protein with vegetables for dinner. For me to go to the gym and leave my kids doesn't make sense."

Good to see her setting a better example...

Celebrity envy

Tori Spelling has revealed that she looked to Jessica Alba for inspiration to lose the weight after the birth of her second child, Stella.

She says, "I would look at pictures of myself and compare them to Jessica Alba, who had her baby two days before me. I'd see photos of her two months after and go, 'Look at her!'"

She adds, "The best way to lose weight is to make it a family affair. It has changed my life. It's easier now because I'm not as focused on it. Take your time. If you get obsessed, you'll miss out on great moments with your children.”

Breast best for bouncing back

Ah Tori. She has blabbed to Ok! magazine that after 3.5 months she has stopped breastfeeding so she can lose her baby weight:

"I haven't lost the weight yet! I'm wearing Spanx," she revealed. "I just stopped breastfeeding so now I can start a diet program. Getting back to working out is the hardest part but we have a really active lifestyle."

*Sigh*

Clearly, Tori doesn't know about the University of Georgia study that appears in the August issue of International Breastfeeding Journal in which the researchers found that breastfeeding BOOSTS post-baby weight loss. Women who exclusively breastfed their babies lost more weight than mothers who used formula or formula and breastmilk ('mixed feeding')

Totally Tori

It's been awhile since I've talked about No(Tori)ous Spelling..

Now that she's 8 months preggo for the second time, it turns out that Tori loves her pregnant body.

"So far I've gained 25 pounds and am loving my body! During my first pregnancy with Liam, I spent a lot of time worried about my weight and how big I was getting and how I would lose it afterwards," she said. "But once I wasn't pregnant anymore, I missed it. I loved being pregnant!

Will Tori go back to Nutrisystem following her second birth?

Tori Spelling pregnancy part 2

According to People, Tori Spelling is very pregnant...again...clearly, I must have missed the announcement!

Considering all the trouble she went to lose the weight from the first baby, I am definitely surprised by the second pregnancy.

Tori: famous for her weight loss...and well, not much else

Oh Tori. You are the bad $3.50 latte that I drink anyway just because I need the caffeine.
Of her Nutrisystem weight loss program, she says:

"I was terrified! I thought, 'Oh my God! I can't be so strict. I can't be on flavourless food, tiny portions. What am I going to do? Am I going to starve to death?'"

Not only are you thinner than you were pre-pregnancy, at least you haven't lost your charm.

Tori Spelling and her 'new' body

Yeah. Tori Spelling. Holy freaking cow.
Accoring to Life & Style Weekly:
When svelte new mom Tori Spelling stepped out during New York Fashion Week, onlookers assumed her amazing mommy makeover involved a few nips and tucks. But Tori tells Life & Style that since the birth of son Liam, now 7 months old, she hasn’t taken any surgical shortcuts to regain her hot body!
“It all happened from my NutriSystem diet,” says Tori, 34, who receives the program’s daily deliveries of breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. And keeping focused has been key. Pal Bill Horn says that over Labor Day weekend while her friends ordered french fries and cheeseburgers, “Tori whipped out her packaged NutriSystem snacks — she didn’t have a single french fry!”

Totally Tori: back into her jeans

In an exclusive interview with Access Hollywood, Tori S reveals “In four months, I’ve lost almost all my baby weight. I’m feeling really good. I just got back into my regular jeans yesterday.”

“She started to tear up,” Dean [her husband] said.

I find it really astounding that 'getting back into your jeans' has become the benchmark for success of the postbaby body. Every single woman in my study mentioned that getting back into her jeans was a primary goal. So what does it mean? Fitting into your pre-pregnancy clothes is the most symbolic moment when a woman can identify with the person she was before she was pregnant. It's like her pre-pregnant 'self' is not lost anymore. As motherhood brings forth so many life-altering changes, fitting back into your jeans is a reassuring moment when things can feel a little bit the same even though they are really so different.

Tori Spelling embraces her new curves

When she was pregnant Tori Spelling gained 40 lbs (18 kg) and in only 4 months, she has lost 22 lbs (10kg) so she is well on her way to making it to her pre-pregnancy weight of 115 lbs (52kg) as a result of her NutriSystem diet (which I've written about previously). In this week's Us magazine, Tori talks about her weight loss and motherhood. Apparently, it was a rude shock to discover that breastfeeding did not make a significant dent in her pregnancy weight gain.

On her body a few weeks post birth:
“I thought I looked heavier after I had the baby. [The bulge] left the stomach area and shifted into areas that I didn’t know could gain weight…I was like, Uh-oh”.

On exercise:
To supplement her healthy diet, Spelling started working out with trainer Sam Levine two months after giving birth. Two to three times a week “we do a lot of kickboxing, work on the abs, squats and lunges,” she says.

On her postbaby body:
“I like my curves. I’m happy with the way I look. I don’t think about getting down to a size 0 or a size 2 because that was before. I’m a mom now!”

I think this is a strange statement. It just reinforces alot of sociohistorical associations of motherhood as un-sexy, meaning that the mother's body sort of becomes a function of her child's needs and not a desirable sexual 'object'. I think it's interesting that she says this because celebrities are the ones that have gone out of their way to make motherhood overtly sexy and glamorous.

But then in the next breath she says her goal is to lose another 10 pounds and then flaunt her knockout figure.

On being a sexy mum:
“I’m going to put on a bikini and walk proudly down the beach!”

tori talks post-baby bumps

Tori Spelling was on Jimmy Kimmel the other night promoting her new show and also talking about new motherhood. She mentioned a few interesting bits about breastfeeding (yay!) and also about a run at a supermarket with a woman who thought she was still pregnant:

I was in the market last week and some woman approached me, 'TORI!' so I was like, 'Hi!' and she said, 'The baby!,' and I was like, 'Oh yeah,' thinking he had been on the cover of Us Magazine, and she walked up and said, 'Can I touch him?' and grabbed my belly. And then it got worse. I was like, "Oh no no, he was born 5 weeks ago!' and she goes, 'OH! You still have the belly.' I said, 'Yeah, I'm feeling good.' And she's like, 'Don't worry, it will go away - well I mean mine hasn't yet and my kid's 18, but...(shrugs shoulders).

tori spelling's weight 'battle'

Poor Tori. Just after she's spent nine months creating new life, already people are talking about how fast she will drop the 40 pounds she 'packed on' (as if she is a footy player?!) over the pregnancy.

'Tori was dismayed to discover that after giving birth, the weight she gained during her pregnancy didn't just disappear. It wasn't water retention, as she wishfully hoped. So, being a take-charge kind of gal, she searched out a weight-loss program that would work for her and taste good -- yet also be safe while she is nursing the baby -- and discovered that NutriSystem® would fulfill her needs while fitting into her busy lifestyle, especially since the food is delivered directly to her door.'

It must be nice to have food delivered to your door....
