Minnie Driver: pregnant bikini poll

Remember those pregnant bikini photos of Minnie Driver I posted the other day? As I was perusing the interwebs, I came across a poll at Popeater asking whether people 'approved' of Driver wearing a bikini.

I'm amazed. Well, I guess I'm not amazed but more surprised. For all intents and purposes, Driver looks pretty 'slender' in the sense that she has no excess 'fat' anywhere on her body. Her arms and legs are very slim. She only has a large belly obviously because she's heavily pregnant. 60% of voters thought she looked unattractive. Yet, everyone seems to love it when preggo celebs pose naked on magazine covers. Weird.

Baby bump round-up

Oh Minnie, gotta love her. Last week the poor gal was dubbed 'pasty' with a 'massive' bump in a white bikini a la Mylene Klass. This week she is praised for wearing a "thigh-skimming, off the shoulder number" as she "sashayed" down the red carpet. As the birth is imminent, the media want to know things (well, 2 things only): who is her baby daddy? and how is she going to lose the weight. Minnie is still mum on dad but she did have this to say about weight loss:

'I don't know what this celebrity obsession of getting your pre-baby body back in the shortest time possible is all about. It's the most unhealthy thing and it's horrifying that you should somehow get back into a size two a couple of weeks after giving birth. So plan on seeing me podgy and fat, knocking around in Malibu and proud of it."

Did I mention I love her?

In other 'news', Ashley Simpson now has a 'baby bump'. You heard it here first. Oh and Angelina Jolie has checked in hospital to 'prepare' for birth a few days before her due date. Sounds suss to me. I think she has scheduled a caesar. Anyone else agree? Who wants to hang out in a hospital just for fun?

White bikinis and what not

Welcome to my 400th post.

Moving right along. So it seems I've lost someof my loyal readers...I know, I know. As I keep telling you, I have this PhD thesis (blah blah blah) which is due so soon I'm already feeling Braxton-Hicks with every edit. My posting is not what it used to be but in some ways I haven't found much that I have wanted to write about lately. Like you, I get sick of reading about celebrities constantly so I've been having a mini-holiday from reading or thinking about Nicole Kidman. Things have been moving very rapidly on this end with plans to take this old Baby Bump Project to the next level. There is a book in the works and plans for an exhibition here in Melbourne.

Anyway, for those of you that are still listening. It seems Minnie Driver has come out into the sunshine at 7 months pregnant and of course, she is being slagged by the media for apparently being 'too pasty'. Most of the British tabs are saying she looks ENORMOUS however I laughed when I saw that the Sun was praising Driver for looking like a 'real woman' in comparison to other celebs:

"These snaps of MINNIE DRIVER show real girl power, as the mum-to-be bares her bod on the beach while heavily pregnant."

If you actually look at Minnie, she's bloody thin. Not in a scary thin kind of way but seriously, her belly is not ENORMOUS and she certainly doesn't look like a baby mammoth like everyone says. Unfortunately, the snap that's being sent around is of her in a white bikini and for my Brit readers, you will know straight away that Mylene Klass made the white bikini famous both in pregnancy and out of pregnancy for Marks & Spencer. Sure, Mylene is all made up and looking fabulous but if you read Mylene's book (which I have written about) she says pregnancy looked alot easier for her than it actually was. Why is it that 'real' women are 'fat'?

Headline: Minnie Driver reveals her budding bulge... but still no word on Daddy

It seems that no one can deal with the fact that an adult woman has decided to have a baby and not reveal the 'father' because clearly, all women who are pregnant are straight. Now, I'm not making any speculations about Minnie Driver's sexuality because it's none of my business, however, so bloody what if she doesn't want to tell people how she got pregnant or to whom?? I find the assumption that she is 'hiding' a man somewhere pretty ridiculous. Maybe she got a sperm donor? Maybe she's a lesbian? Who cares?!

Minnie Driver: eating is good

As I wrote previously about Halle Berry and Milla Jovovich, many female celebrities clearly have spent many, many years starving themselves for their careers and pregnancy is perhaps the one time in their adult lives when they can eat.

Five months pregnant, Minnie Driver now is saying exactly the same thing:

"It's great just to be able to eat. No guilt! No guilt about anything!"

If only celebrity women could be this confident with food when they weren't pregnant....
