Leicester teen birth video: shocking

A mobile phone video of a teenager giving birth in Leicester and republished as a part of a NHS campaign against teen pregnancy has sparked controversy around the world. The graphic depiction of a teenager screaming and giving birth on a playground, surrounded by her classmates taunting her was originally banned on You Tube but has recently reappeared.

"We know this film is hard-hitting but so are the numbers of under-18s getting pregnant in Leicester,' Tim Rideout, chief executive of NHS Leicester City, told Metro UK. "Nearly half the city's wards are classed as teen pregnancy 'hotspots'." Rideout says that posters and leaflets have been ineffective and it was hoped that the video would get the message across.
